1770 Amphlett Blvd – San Mateo Marriott
Our client had to work with a few challenges on this project: weight, varying cab orientations, and different materials (stainless steel and bronze). Our job was to develop a consistent design aesthetic in all their elevators. Since the client had recently finished updating their lobby, we had a clear direction for finishes.
We used high-pressure laminate installed in one of two ways: directly applied and with stand-off panels.
The direct applied approach uses a stile and rail design where the laminate is adhered directly to the cab shell, and the edges are captured with the stiles and rails. We use this approach where a lightweight system is needed.
The stand-off panel design is simple and clean-looking, using the same laminate in a vertically oriented layout. You’ll notice the two differing accent metals – stainless steel and bronze. Both metals complement the hard-wearing luxury vinyl tile.
