“Transported” was the term used to describe the elevator interior design intent for this project. Talk about a blank canvas!
That’s what we had to work with, so our UEI designer, Lindsay Benjamin, got to work. The result was a Gatsby-like design that takes you from the present to the past.
Another design requirement was to keep the weight down. This is why the finishes are applied directly to the cab shell. This approach removes the need for heavier substrate panels on which finishes are usually applied. In this case, the bronze angular stile and rail system keeps the textured white plastic laminate in place right on the wall. The luxury vinyl tile provides the needed floor durability based on daily use, and the lighting is a combination of LED cove and downlighting.
The one functional design element that we kept is the venting on the upper back wall. Very art deco.
