888 O’Farrell Street
888 O’Farrell is a residential complex with very busy elevators. The customer’s design goal was metal and stone. This was accomplished using woven metal on the side walls and a stone-look laminate on the back wall.
To dress up the back-wall laminate, we chose to separate each panel with a 1/4″ stainless steel bar. Today’s laminates really can emulate the real thing. A bumper rail was used on the back wall to add another measure of durability.
The woven metal side walls are naturally abuse-resistant, a nice feature for residential complexes where move-in/out happens regularly.
The flooring material is a slate-embossed large-format rubber tile, a great solution for busy elevators.
